FAQs
1
What is a doula?
A doula offers nonmedical educational, emotional, and spiritual support to expectant and new parents. We specialize in providing hands-on labor support and focus on mental, emotional, and spiritual readiness for the transformative journey of labor and early parenthood.
2
When do you report to a birth?
I report to a birth when the laboring person is in active labor (i.e. when contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting about 1 minute long, for 1 hour).
3
Where do you attend births?
I primarily attend births at home and in birth centers, but am open to attending hospital births as well. If you have a question about a specific location, send me an email.
4
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I am a certified MassHealth provider, so my services can be covered using MassHealth. I can also accept Carrot benefits to cover my services. Carrot is a benefit to some insurance plans -- if you are not sure if you have it, give your insurance a call! It can be hard to find the details in your policy, so double checking with an HR rep or your insurance company directly is extremely helpful.
5
How far will you travel to support clients?
For birth clients, which includes those choosing the Birth Package or Complete Package, I will travel up to 2 hours from Brattleboro, VT.
For postpartum clients, which includes those choosing the Postpartum Package, I will travel up to 1 hour 30 minutes from Brattleboro, VT.
I support clients in Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

What is your policy on hospital transfers?
In the event that a hospital transfer is necessary, I will accompany you to the hospital and continue to provide support until 2 hours post-delivery, provided this is in line with hospital policy.
